Restore Your Smile with LANAP® Laser Gum Treatment

Gum disease can affect your smile and overall health—but there’s a safe, effective solution. At Harris Dental Cape Cod, we’re proud to offer the LANAP® protocol (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure), the only FDA-approved laser treatment that protects your natural teeth and supports long-term oral health.
Using the PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser, LANAP® gently removes diseased tissue and harmful bacteria while preserving healthy gum tissue and promoting natural healing. Because it’s minimally invasive, patients experience less discomfort, faster recovery, and minimal downtime—after treatment, you can go about your day as usual while your gums continue to heal.

What to Expect During LANAP Treatment

Your LANAP treatment in Massachusetts begins with a detailed examination to measure gum pocket depth and assess bone levels. This evaluation enables us to design a personalized treatment plan tailored to your smile.

Using a specialized laser, we carefully eliminate bacteria and diseased tissue without harming healthy gums. The laser’s targeted wavelength also sterilizes the area, creating a clean environment for healing.

Next, ultrasonic instruments are used to remove tartar from the root surfaces. Clearing away this buildup allows the gums to reattach more securely and reduces inflammation.

The laser is used again at a lower setting to stimulate healing and bone regeneration. This process creates a natural clot that seals the treated pockets, blocking bacteria from returning and protecting the area as it heals.

Once the clot is in place, the gum tissue is gently pressed against the tooth roots, eliminating the need for sutures. This helps restore a healthy gum line and minimizes the risk of receding gums.

Recovery begins almost immediately. The LANAP procedure promotes new bone and connective tissue growth, helping to rebuild the foundation of your teeth and reducing the long-term risks associated with gum disease.

LANAP vs. Traditional Gum Surgery

LANAP provides a gentler, more advanced solution for treating gum disease. Unlike traditional surgery, it does not require cutting, stitching, or extensive downtime, making it a preferred choice for patients seeking comfort and predictable results.
